"Wisdom"

That's the name of my post today, and of my video, and how appropriate; since true wisdom is not knowing all things, but rather knowing who to ask.  That's how I finally got my video together....I had Roo do it!  She's the guru on all things Youtube!

Before you have a look at it however, I want to warn you.  It is quite long (23 mins), and it may be boring as heck!  Please know that if you choose not to even open it, or if you give it up as a bad  cause after 2 mins, I will not think less of you.  Of course since there's no quiz, I'll never know anyway.

Also if you choose to invest your time , I recommend headphones or earbuds.

Also today I want to give a giant shout out to my dear Mexican friend Jacquelina!!  Thanks for checking in Jacky, and I will expect a picture of Isabella and her abuelos very soon!!

Here's the vid.

Lastly, make sure you join me tomorrow when I will be advising you of the first significant change I'm making in my life.   After all, "it's time"!

"Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity."---Calvin Coolidge

  1. Maybe your blog and you are a big old jumbled mess, but you're our mess and we're keeping you. I love that you're gonna talk about your dreams because the profound effect they're having on you warrants exploring. I don't remember who said it recently in response to the serenity prayer but I think it fits for you...instead of accepting what I cannot change, I'm changing what I cannot accept. Love you, brother!

  2. First, I love the video! It made me wish i was there riding beside you. I also kept on wishing you would look around a bit so i could see something other than road. I have a couple of thoughts about your conversation that I think you should think about
    1. What makes you think your dreams have any meaning other than your subconcious is totally bored! I encourage you to do a bit of research into the science of weather dreams have meaning at all and not waste another second trying to make any sense out of yours, vivid as they may be. I remember quite clearly as a preteen having fairly regular incredibly scary dreams that prompted a trip downstairs to mom and dads room. I even remember thinking that i was too old for this and should not need to go crying to mom and dad. I am sure i didnt recognize it at the time, but after this happened too many times in a row, dad gave me some good advice. it was incredibly simple and yet so powerful. He said "think nice thoughts". 35 years later I read the same advice in a Tony Robbins book and realized then, just how powerful it is. You say you think you can never forget this dream. Imagine for a second, a young child, or mother watching personally as their whole family is blown up by a bomb! This actually happens every day, and most people do not let it cause them to want to die. Remembering this dream is a CHOICE! You need to choose other thoughts, start training today, no rising heart rate required.
    2. As to making changes, I will repeat my comment from last week. Stop trying to improve yourself, and stop being alive.
I love you forever bro. Think good things

  3. I too love your video. I felt like I was right there with you and the experience of the blog video allowed me to just listen - really listen without engaging in conversation, which feels good and as if I was honoring your story by listening. Also I was so relaxed and enjoying the blue sky and clear air - which would never have been the case if my ass was on a bike beside you for real!
I smiled when I read John's comment because he's basically channeling Byron Katie! (Don't you think so Roo?) I felt incredibly sad Peter when you talked about jumping off a cliff. I had the feeling that if you decided to, you could do it. Please don't. You are a contribution Peter - that may not be a purpose you identify, but in spite of yourself you are showing up, making a statement and leading. Love you lots and I remain at the ready, in anticipation of cooking your dinner. ;) xo

  4. Hi Peter, I loved your video. I didn't have to read it I could just listen - please do more of it!
I had a thought while I was listening - did you ever get tested for a concussion after your fall at the Ironman?
The lightheadedness while exercising, losing your train of thought and the depression all fit with stuff I've read about athletes (hockey players) who have suffered a concussion. Often the symptoms don't show up right away - I don't know - maybe worth looking into if you haven't already.
Do you ever get light headed when you bike or only when you run?
    Love you Pete!

    1. I agree with Ky. This does seem like that kind of stuff we've seen come out of hockey players. Why not look into it, see a doc?

  5. I also truly loved the video - it wasn't much different from listening to CBC radio as I often do.

I have nothing to add to what has been said already. I can't say it any better, and as a young person in a different stage of life, it's more difficult to have advice.

All I can say is that I love you more everyday!! So glad you're my dad :)

    Love,
    Michael
